The Truth about line level analog audio amplifiers
What most people don't know is that splitting analog audio is
fundamentally different than splitting video or digital audio. Video &
digital audio are universally defined as 75 ohm terminated 75 ohm source
impedance signals, and absolutely require active amplification to split.
Analog audio, however, does not have well defined source and termination
impedances. The source is usually 600 ohms or less, and the termination
impedance is usually around 20K (although 600 ohms and others are used).
What this means is that some situations will require amplification to split, and
other situations will not.
You do not need an amplifier for analog audio if:

When you purchase a line level audio amp,
